ARMHS for the Hmong Community – A Culturally Compassionate Guide

1. What Is ARMHS?

Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) is a program that helps adults who face difficulties with daily life because of mental health symptoms or traumatic brain injuries. For many in the Hmong community, this may include trauma from war (such as the Secret War in Laos), experiences of loss, adjustment to American life, or ongoing anxiety and depression.
Instead of placing people in group homes or institutions, ARMHS comes to your home and community to help you live more independently and with dignity and respect.

2. Who Is Eligible?

You may qualify for ARMHS if:

  • You have a diagnosed mental health condition (such as PTSD, anxiety, or depression) or a history of traumatic brain injury

  • You have difficulty with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, managing money, keeping appointments, or talking with others

  • You or someone you trust (a family member, doctor, or case manager) submits a referral form to Star Social Services

3. What Services Are Provided?
Assessment & Individualized Plan
